I want to apologize for the long hiatus since my last post. My husband and I have been busy traveling, and it has made it difficult for me to post regularly.
It’s Valentines Day, and many of you may be trying to think of a creative Valentines look. Florals are always a popular spring look, and this spring is no exception. Floral prints have already begun to grace the runways of major fashion houses, and you can be sure it won’t be long before they find their way into stores. And what better to go with a floral print than a rosy glow.
Today, we are going to go through a step by step look for a perfect Valentines Day look. Don’t worry if you don’t have a soulmate to spend the day with; this look is perfect for a night out with the girls too.
1. Start with your usual foundation and powder base.
2. Eyes: V-Day is a festive day to play with shimmery eye shadows. A good eyelid base will help keep on any shimmery eye shadow. Don’t go with glittery eye shadow unless you are a teen and have the skin elasticity and youth to accompany it. I recommend Stila’s eye shadow in Kitten for a subtle and long lasting shimmer. This is an easy eye shadow to swipe over your entire eye area. You can put it nearly all the way up to your eyebrow since the eye shadow is fairly subtle. Revlon’s Diamond Lust shadows have even less shimmer than Stila, but keep in mind that they also won’t last as long.
Before or after you put on your shadow, you can use an eyeliner. I recommend a gold eyeliner. It enhances and widens the eyes while remaining subtle. MAC has an excellent gold eyeliner.
Use a highlighting product just below your brows for an extra wide awake look.
Apply mascara.
3. Lips: Have fun with your lips on Valentines Day. Bright reds and pinks aren’t going to look as out of place as they may on other days. It’s a fun day to enjoy an array of colors you may not normally experiment with. You can first pencil in your lips with a neutral lip pencil to keep the color on longer or you can pencil in a color that matches your lipstick.
4. Blush: Valentines Day is the perfect day to try a cheek stain if you haven’t yet. Cheek stains create the perfect blushing date look for Valentines Day. My favorite cheek stain is created by Tarte. Simply rub the cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks for a natural glow.
Most of all, have fun with your V-Day look. You can experiment with lilac or pink eyeshadow (although remember colorful eyeshadow goes best with neutral lips so you don’t end up looking clownish).
