Product Review: MD Skincare Intense HydraMasks

As I have mentioned many times in this blog, my skin is fickle and my lifestyle doesn’t do anything to help it. I live in an incredibly dry climate, and I travel a lot. Long plane rides and constant climate hopping doesn’t do anything to assist my already easily irritable skin.

I have searched far and wide for a mask that would help me regain my skin equilibrium after long, moisture sucking plane rides, and I have finally found one I am happy to recommend.

MD Skincare’s Intense HydraMasks are easy to use, ultra hydrating masks that hydrate and refresh your skin in an easy fifteen minutes. The warming sensation of the mask is also relaxing. After fifteen minutes, removing the mask is easy (we’ve all experienced the masks that you practically have to sandpaper off your skin, thereby defeating the purpose of it in the first place it seems). The result is fresh, smooth, hydrated skin ready for another plane ride. The masks can be used around once a week (depending on your skin you may need it less or more), and cost $60 for six of them.

Product Review: Yu-Be Skin Cream

Yu-Be heralds from Japan, the only place I’ve visited where women love shopping more than American women. Japanese women are meticulous about their appearance. I saw women in stilettos and mini-skirts in temples on rainy days and hiking their way up Mt. Fuji. So a lotion from Japan is sure to be worth a try.
The other selling point of Yu-Be Skin Cream? It was used by the first woman to climb Mt. Everest to combat the harsh conditions. If Yu-Be can handle Everest, it can certainly handle Colorado.
Yu-Be Skin Cream has been around for 50 years. It was created after a request from a Japanese woman who was tired of her dry, cracked skin and messy petroleum based lotions. A young pharmacist created Yu-Be, a glycerin based lotion, to meet her needs.
Yu-Be is all it’s cracked up to be. The lotion applies easily and you don’t even know you have it on after a few moments. Initially, it smells like you have applied Vicks VapoRub to your hands (one of the ingredients of the lotion is camphor), but the scent fades quickly. What lasts is a silky smooth feeling. The first time I used the lotion, I couldn’t stop feeling how soft my hands felt. Yu-Be also does wonders for lips.
2.75 ounces of Yu-Be will cost you $24.00, and 4.25 ounces will cost you $34.00. It’s costly, so if you have skin that can be cured with regular lotion, you may not want to invest in it, but if you have extremely dry skin (or are planning to climb Mt. Everest any time soon), Yu-Be will be worth your investment.

Happy Valentines Day!

I want to apologize for the long hiatus since my last post. My husband and I have been busy traveling, and it has made it difficult for me to post regularly.

It’s Valentines Day, and many of you may be trying to think of a creative Valentines look. Florals are always a popular spring look, and this spring is no exception. Floral prints have already begun to grace the runways of major fashion houses, and you can be sure it won’t be long before they find their way into stores. And what better to go with a floral print than a rosy glow.
Today, we are going to go through a step by step look for a perfect Valentines Day look. Don’t worry if you don’t have a soulmate to spend the day with; this look is perfect for a night out with the girls too.

1. Start with your usual foundation and powder base.
2. Eyes: V-Day is a festive day to play with shimmery eye shadows. A good eyelid base will help keep on any shimmery eye shadow. Don’t go with glittery eye shadow unless you are a teen and have the skin elasticity and youth to accompany it. I recommend Stila’s eye shadow in Kitten for a subtle and long lasting shimmer. This is an easy eye shadow to swipe over your entire eye area. You can put it nearly all the way up to your eyebrow since the eye shadow is fairly subtle. Revlon’s Diamond Lust shadows have even less shimmer than Stila, but keep in mind that they also won’t last as long.
Before or after you put on your shadow, you can use an eyeliner. I recommend a gold eyeliner. It enhances and widens the eyes while remaining subtle. MAC has an excellent gold eyeliner.
Use a highlighting product just below your brows for an extra wide awake look.
Apply mascara.
3. Lips: Have fun with your lips on Valentines Day. Bright reds and pinks aren’t going to look as out of place as they may on other days. It’s a fun day to enjoy an array of colors you may not normally experiment with. You can first pencil in your lips with a neutral lip pencil to keep the color on longer or you can pencil in a color that matches your lipstick.
4. Blush: Valentines Day is the perfect day to try a cheek stain if you haven’t yet. Cheek stains create the perfect blushing date look for Valentines Day. My favorite cheek stain is created by Tarte. Simply rub the cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks for a natural glow.

Most of all, have fun with your V-Day look. You can experiment with lilac or pink eyeshadow (although remember colorful eyeshadow goes best with neutral lips so you don’t end up looking clownish).
