I hate getting ready for bed at night. Despite being a beauty product junkie, when I want to go to bed, I just want to go to bed. Brushing my teeth and washing my face just feel like chores. However, a nightly routine can save you face, and I am here to advocate a nightly beauty ritual no matter how difficult it is for me to implement one myself.
Washing your face and using make-up remover to take off your face at night will do wonders for your face in the morning. Let’s discuss why. Leaving make-up on your face overnight can have many detrimental effects to your skin. Nighttime is when your body rejuvenates itself, and your face is no exception. That’s why heavy night creams work: your skin is working hard at night to make itself beautiful. Leaving make-up on your skin while you sleep disrupts your beauty sleep and can clog pores. Clogged pores lead to acne and uneven skin tone. Washing your face before you go to bed will assist your face in its quest for clear skin.
Eye make-up can be a particular problem. Black or brown mascara looks great on lashes during the day, but the effect isn’t quite the same in the morning. The mascara has usually made its way to underneath your eyes (where your lashes have been resting all night), and you will have lovely undereye circles to show for your carelessness the evening before. Even using eye make-up remover in the morning doesn’t seem to completely get rid of those pesky circles. And if that isn’t enough, mascara left on overnight can cause crusty, brittle lashes. Your lashes need a chance to rest too, and leaving mascara on overnight can negatively affect this process.
Clogged pores, undereye circles, and irritated skin? Skipping a nightly routine just doesn’t seem worth it to me. Tune in tomorrow as we discuss what steps should be taken in a nightly routine. It can be much simpler than you think.

Not to mention, using that $50 jar of night cream or eye cream over makeup makes it completely ineffective - it can't get through the layer you put on the previous morning! Glad to see you back...
